Brian Sullivan — Usability Principal, Sabre
Jerome provided a wonderful approach called Five Sketches™ at UPA 2008. At Sabre, we immediately used this approach within three weeks of returning from the conference. In the last six months, I have personally conducted six of these sessions—basically, one each month. This approach can be used to quickly sketch out ideas to saturate the design space. In January, we are going to perform a formative usability study, where the initial design to be tested is the final mashup from the five-sketches-or-else project we did in November. Jerome’s approach is innovative. Plus, it flat-out works. The key is to stick to the process that Jerome created. I highly recommend Jerome for his innovative thinking and addition to the fields of design and usability.
Geoff Hall — Development Manager, Gemcom Software
Jerome was an energetic promoter of the need to incorporate usability in our software designs from the outset. As such, he has turned around the way software is being designed in the organization by providing concrete techniques and thought processes to enable that to happen. His Five Sketches™ paradigm (his own work) is an excellent tool that has been embraced by the development organization.
Rahel Bailie — President, Intentional Design
Jerome is a gifted instructor who has not only a deep understanding of the material he is teaching, but also understands how to present the material within a context that provides students with a conceptual framework. I’ve had the pleasure of co-teaching with Jerome on several occasions and am continually impressed with the range of his capabilities, from understanding of the big picture to handling classroom details. Any student in Jerome’s class will not get a free ride, but will certainly get what they came to learn, and then some.
Gene Smith — President, nForm User Experience
Jerome has created an innovative design methodology for developers, called Five Sketches™. It’s simple, practical and it helps developers radically improve the user interfaces they create. We saw him present this method at an international usability conference, and we were so impressed we invited him to speak at our own design conference.
